The Maplewood Voters Coalition is a citizen effort to improve how the people and lands of Maplewood are governed. We have screened candidates for endorsement, are identifying new municipal voters, and will work with volunteers to distribute information to voters about local issues, the candidates, and how to join MVC. |

Maplewood City Council
In 2005 Dave Bartol was appointed to temporarily fill the council seat vacated by Jackie Monahan-Junek's resignation. After newly elected Longrie and Hjelle were seated the three began to act as a majority. Bartol was replaced by Rebecca Cave in the 2006 special election to fill the remainder of the Junek term ending in 2007, consolidating the majority's grip.
Incumbent Rossbach is running for reelection. In addition to Bartol and Cave, five candidates have joined the race. Four of the eight will survive the September 11 primary (results at link/pdf).
MVC is working through the electoral process to restore sound public processes, professional leadership for a highly motivated professional staff, and a city council dedicated to public service. Here is our Maplewood City Council Voters Guide with four endorsements:

Maplewood west of Arcade Street is served by Roseville School District 623, where the seats of School Board members Ring, McCloon, and Warner are up for election in 2007. Incumbent Ring is running for reelection. Five Roseville residents closely associated with Maplewood's council majority have filed their candidacy. Six additional ISD 623 residents have joined the race. Six of the twelve will survive the September 11 primary (results at link).
MVC will work to protect public education in ISD 623 this year, and in North St. Paul/Maplewood/Oakdale (ISD 622) next year. Here is our ISD 623 Voters Guide with five endorsements:
